Soloshow:

Patrizia Bach: Vergangenheit, in jedem ihrer Momente zitierbar || Past, in Each of its Moments be Citable || Her Anıyla Alıntılanan Geçmiş

at the Navies Kitchen at Kulturakademie Tarabya (Istanbul) 2025

So overly joyed that an excerpt of my long-year project was shown at Kulturakademie Tarabya as part of the summer-festival.

The work is dedicated to Osman Kavala

and came to life with the assistance of many helping hands and input by
Asli Odman, Duygu Yeral, Goethe-Institute Istanbul, Salt-Online-Research, Asena Günal, Lena Alpozan, the team of the Tarabya Kulturakademie (Yusuf Bahar, Tijen Togay, Leonie Dinsch, Sinem Tekel), the private city-archive of Asli Odman and Jean-Frainçois Perousé the trust by Osman Kavala in the first place and my love to the city, her animals, spirits and her wayward history.

I am overjoyed and proud to share that I have won the first prize in an »Kunst am Bau« (art in public space) competition for the new Elisabeth-Selbert-Haus in Berlin (Unter den Linden), offered by the the Federal Agency for Public Property (Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben).

The work »Trotzdem küsse ich deine Nasenspitze [I still kiss the tip of your nose]« was created in close cooperation with the Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft (Archive of the GDR Opposition) and tells the story of the lesbian and women’s groups as well as the independent women’s movement in the GDR, which – among others – paved the way for the Monday Demonstrations in the fall of 1989 and thus laid a decisive foundation for the reunification of Germany.

This work is dedicated to the courage and perseverance of all the women involved, whose great actions irrevocably changed their own lives and who were often punished with deprivation of liberty, state surveillance and banishment.

A special and personal dedication goes to Petra Leonhardt (♰ November 22, 2023).

The work consists of two parts: A wall drawing, made up of 260 individual drawings whose motifs are inspired by photographs and samizdats from the Grauzone archive collection.

A special developed website accompanies the drawings with quotes, texts and archive material to convey the history of the women’s movement in the GDR.

The AI and the online publication are being realised by Lydia Ickler.

Very special thanks to her, the whole team of the Robert-Havemann-Gesellschaft, the Jury for their trust and of course to all the women out there.

I liked being in Serramonacesca for the summer

Serramonacesca is where I came from
for many years I did not know
for some years now it leads me back to my roots

they return the love I used to feel
bring witch-craft into my life
and introduce me to the child I could have been

it is where I can look into eyes that saw my grandparents eyes
(and greet my grandmother through them)
it is where I listen to stories that teach me that there is still something good in this most paradoxical of all times

Serramonacesca, you bring sparkling magic into my life and work, you wake me up, you narrate of and by more or less displaced stones and animals, you gift me the sea, the mountains the stillness to listen to them

DUA as part of the publication: On Care. A Journey into the Relational Nature of Artists‘ Residencies.
(VfmK Verlag für moderne Kunst)

Artistic Friendship – Meeting Between the Lines
Despite years of narrowly missing each other in life, visual artist Patrizia Bach and writer Regina Dürig finally connected at the artists’ residency program Akademie Schloss Solitude. Their shared time bloomed into sisterhood. Like feeling for something together that each could not grasp on their own. This profound exchange between two artists is part of the publication On Care. A Journey into the Relational Nature of Artists‘ Residencies.
