In this self-designed, bilingual (IT/DE) artist’s booklet, the trees are given voice. The frottages in the background run continuously through all pages, shaping both the layout of text and image.
Each Forest Inventory Drawing is placed opposite an Archive Inventory Drawing in Italian translation (or the other way around), so that the narrative shifts as one reads and leafs through the booklet. The same quotations are reinterpreted through different drawings — the knowledge of the forest placed on equal terms with that of the archive.
The spirits, animals, flora, soil, and earth of the forest, as well as the names of historical protagonists — drawn from archival files and quotations by the fellows — are listed together with me as authors in the publication and decisively shape its content and form.
supplement to the anniversary publication „Im Schlangenhain. Nella Serpentara“, 16 pages, 22.5 × 16 cm, 62 drawings, archival material from the historical archive of the Akademie der Künste (together with the main publication longlisted for The Most Beautiful German Books, 2025)
